Privacy Policy
This policy explains what information CaninePal ("the app") handles, why it is used, and when it is shared. Data controller: [LEGAL NAME]. Contact: [CONTACT EMAIL].
Information we collect
- Dog profile: name, approximate age, experience, goals, rewards, equipment, and training preferences.
- Training activity: completed lessons, courses on your path, and quiz scores.
- Account: if you sign in to use Family sharing, your email address (or the private relay address Sign in with Apple provides) and an account identifier.
- Purchases: if you subscribe to CaninePal Pro, whether your subscription is active, its plan, and its renewal or expiry date. Apple processes the payment; we never see your card or billing details.
- CaninePal AI questions: the questions you ask CaninePal AI and the recent messages of that chat. Conversations are saved on your device, not on our servers.
- Feedback: messages you send from Settings → Send feedback, the reply email if you add one, your app and operating-system version, and your account if you're signed in. We use it only to respond to you and improve the app.
- Technical information: IP address and basic request data used to prevent abuse and measure aggregate usage. To limit how many CaninePal AI questions can be asked, we count requests against a random ID the app creates when installed and a one-way hash of your IP address; these counters expire within about a day.
We do not ask for health records, financial data, identity documents, or your legal name.
Where information is stored
Your dog's profile and training progress are stored on your device. Deleting the app removes that local copy.
If you sign in to use Family sharing, your account and a copy of the shared dog profile and progress are stored with Supabase in Ohio, United States, so every family member's device stays in sync.
When information is shared
- OpenAI: CaninePal AI is powered by OpenAI. Only after you agree in the app, each question is sent to OpenAI's API with the context needed to answer it: your dog's profile (name, breed, age, goals, rewards, equipment, training preferences), course and lesson progress, quiz scores, today's routine and upcoming appointments, and the lesson you have open. Dog photos, your email address and account details are never sent. We ask OpenAI not to store conversations, and under its API terms OpenAI does not use this data to train its models. You can withdraw your consent at any time in Settings → Notifications & preferences → CaninePal AI.
- Supabase: stores accounts and Family sharing data when you sign in.
- Apple: handles App Store payments. If you use Sign in with Apple, Apple confirms who you are; we receive only an account identifier and the email address you choose to share.
- RevenueCat: processes App Store purchase receipts to confirm your CaninePal Pro subscription. It receives a random app ID, or your account identifier once you sign in, together with your purchase history.
- Vercel: hosts the Coach service and legal pages and processes basic technical request logs.
We do not sell personal information or provide it to advertisers.
Retention and your choices
Information on your device remains until you delete it. You can erase the profile and all progress from Settings → Account settings → Delete profile and progress. If you have an account, Settings → Account settings → Delete account permanently deletes it, your family membership, any family space you organize (including its shared dog data, for every member), feedback linked to your account, and the subscription status we keep, and removes its app data. You can disconnect Sign in with Apple from your Apple Account settings. Deleting the account does not cancel an App Store subscription; cancel that in your iPhone's Settings. You may also contact [CONTACT EMAIL] to request access, correction, deletion, restriction, objection, or portability where applicable.
Children and policy changes
The app is not directed to children under [MINIMUM AGE], and we do not knowingly collect their data.
Material policy changes will be shown in the app before they take effect, and the date above will be updated.
